PlayDead’s Inside Makes Us Feel Weird

Firstly this game kind of just crept up on us. Our Inside imminent release senses didn’t tingle until we bumped into reviews of game. It is receiving many positive reviews and some even calling it a master piece. So we decided to buy the game and play it for ourselves.

giphy (2)

The game doesn’t take any time to introduce the characters or what is going on in its world. Instead it asks the player to find out for themselves. You take control of a nimble pre-teen boy running from unknown forces that seem to want to kill us (we think). They are not afraid to shoot you or send their dogs on you. At this point we know that something is very very wrong in this world. The queue of what we think are humans being hurried into trucks to be taken somewhere is another reminder to the player to just keep running.

giphy (1)

You do eventually escape your pursuers and are met with some quite nice puzzles that tickle your brain. Regardless though many questions arise. Why are we (humans) being shipped of somewhere. Who are these oppressors, why did they kill all our live stock ( well most ), who is this boy we are controlling, why is he on the run, why was he not captured like everyone else. There is also the matter of why all the other captured humans walk around like a bunch of zombies. We at one point actually control a few with a weird head device (shiver). Kind of reminds us of the parasite bugs from limbo. We are going to do posts on each episode we play through on our YouTube channel. Please do join us on this journey on what we think is going to one of the best games of this year. Here is part 1:

Keep being awesome

Quantum Break is AWESOME (opinion)

Yeah, yeah the game got mixed reviews. Some liked it, some disliked it and apparently not many loved it. I think a review said it perfectly by saying “There is nothing like it and there probably won’t be again”. Here is why:

Art direction

quantum pic 1

The art direction is great but not because the characters and environments look detailed. It’s because of the effects that are applied to them. For example when a fracture happens (time literally breaks ) everything becomes well… broken. Lets just say the pictures do it no justice. In motion everything looks pretty crazy. We really wonder how Remedy managed to create this effect.

Sound design

Screen Shot 2016-06-09 at 19.43.44

Now we think the sound design of this game greatly complements the art direction. The way the sound clipped and cracks when you use your dash power. The bass drops that accompany your time freeze bubble. There is this crazy scene where a massive broken ship comes down on the main character. A time fracture happens which creates a volatile environment of breaking metal that reverses back and forth on your path. The sounds you hear in this scene are just ear melting. Watch the scene here

TV Show

Now leading up to the release we were confused on how they were going to tie a game and a tv show together. The show itself is actually pretty interesting. The style we feel has this modern feel like what you would expect from shows like person of interest. If you take it as seriously as it asks you to, we feel you would enjoy it.

These are just a few points we feel makes this game worth while to check out. You can find our playthrough here. Thanks for reading and keep being awesome

Everyone Deals With Depression Differently | Prisoned

Welcome to a new playthrough. LittleRocket has been playing a lot of short stories as of late and here is another one. This one is a little different though.

tumblr_inline_o4ggh3jggm1tow5u7_540

The story follows a lady called Judy. Judy is telling us a story about her journey with depression.

tumblr_inline_o4gghzqrtf1tow5u7_540

It is an interesting story because she found comfort and support from her dog. Something we feel is not done a lot in games. Everyone goes through depression differently. Each with their own story to tell. This is one of those stories.

Case Unsolved | The Last Case

1 2

A story told exquisitely with amazing music and a perfect tone. Last Case is a short story about Jack as he tries to find Amanda Kane. His last job. Is he a detective, or a mercenary. That is something you my dear reader will have to think of yourself. This is another game that is best watched than read. So please do check out the playthrough at the bottom of the post. You won’t be disappointed.

I AM YOU | Being Her Darkest Friend : Part 1

After a short hiatus we are back to playing video games. This is the sequel to A Fragment Of Her. This game is much darker and deeper. As always you can watch the playthrough at the bottom of this post.

1 2

The last game ended with us smacking Mr Seligmann with our painting after he tried to force us into his office. Selina seems to now be stuck in a state of confusion and finds herself in a dark world. The first person we meet is Tomoko who if anyone else hadn’t realized, is actually a girl not a boy. Tomoko gives us the camera we had before, and we are tasked with going back to the university to get a picture of her favorite sitting spot. When we finish that Tomoko points to the right. We walk that way and find Mr Seligmann.

3 45

After Tomoko, it is time to face Mr Seligmann himself. The encounter we had with him is what LittleRocket believes sent Selina into this dark world of uncertainty. He gives us a paint brush. When we arrive at the university we find a group of students who admire Mr Seligmann. Our job is to show them his true colors. After showing all the students and getting back to the dark world, Mr Seligmann points to the left and some large eyes appear in the middle.

56

The picture you see above is what those eyes were attached to. Both Mr Seligmann and Tomoko are pointing at the monster as if to say watch out or behold. The monster tells us that they are our conscience but it on the other hand is us. This the Selina’s darkest friend. The dark side of her that she spoke of in the first game. We are apparently one in the same. This is where the episode ends.

Creepy Cat | Hard Feelings

1

2

Welcome to a new short playthrough of a free game called Hard Feelings. You can get the game here. All the events in this game happen in a single house with a creepy cat that seems to want to get you through a basement door. When we finally get into the basement room there is a man with a bag on his head. There are some missing posters in the room and oh forgot to mention we shoot him. Don’t really know if he kidnapped the missing people or we are the kidnapper ourselves. As always the video is at the bottom of this post.

Mountain Top | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 15

Welcome to another episode of Ori and the Blind Forest. In this episode we play around with some large boulders to block some death rays. We eventually get ourselves to the top of the mountain. As usual the game looks absolutely fantastic. As always you can watch this playthrough at the bottom of this post. Enjoy

Mesmerizing Experience | Remembering

Remembering 1 Welcome to another playthrough of the week. Today a game called Remembering. Now this is a sound game so we can’t really write much about it except our experience of the game. The game uses sound to make the player feel different things. There are sounds for the beach, for a construction site and even some sinister sounds. It uses really simply visual cues to tell the player where to go and what to do. It is an experience to play or watch and you can get it here. Below is our playthrough. Enjoy Thank you for reading and thank you for all of your support. Don’t forget. Keep Being Awesome

E3 ‘the gaming Mecca’ : Day 0

e3-header-overlay-latest
Day 0 of E3 was not Microsoft’s day alone as next up was Electronic Arts; most commonly known in today’s world as EA – “it’s in the game”

With collaborations across the various platforms EA were there to show that just because they make games for both console giants doesn’t mean they can’t impress just as well. Choosing to start from the top they began with the introduction of NEED FOR SPEED :

need for speedThis title featured a return to what is great about the franchise in all the forms it has been given to us before in the form of being an icon in each of the five things that make the franchise fun.

  • Speed – Speed is the connection that exists between car and driver that is only present at top speeds. It’s about keeping your nerve and never lifting off the gas. It’s about the adrenaline rush of taking a corner at high speed, having faith that your car will hold firm and not loose grip. The fearless always push the limits.
  • Style – Style is pure expression through driving, sending your car into a corner sideways with ultimate precision. It’s the feeling of freedom for that split second as your tires leave the ground, when you find yourself in a place where only you and the car exist. For some, style is all that matters.
  • Build – Build is where you take your car to the extreme through both visual and performance modification. The constant need to improve and personalize, shaping the car to your own vision. Craftsmen build, searching for perfection.
  • Crew – Ride together with your Crew and never hit the streets alone. Put your faith in others as bumpers come within inches of one another. This is the skill of close proximity chaos.
  • Outlaw – Become an Outlaw, messing with and escaping from the cops. Always looking to raise the stakes through risk vs reward driving, pushing the limits and looking over your shoulder. Live life on the edge as you crave the thrill of the chase.

EA boasted the seamless integration of actors and game elements within scenes & gameplay. From this the introduction to their Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire

this fan favourite was said to be created with the fans requests in mind, with the want of more BioWare like choice based gameplay (play Mass Effect/Dragon Age if you are unsure what we mean) that determines outcomes in your story at pivotal points.

Another point of interest was the unveiling of the new IP unravel:

Using yarn like mechanics the game focuses on expressing the puzzle solutions in the different style, similar to LittleBig Planet but not ‘sickbay’ style. Also EA were of course showing of the 16’s of their sports gaming franchises:

golf 2016

and of course

Thats enough of the re-skinned gaming as EA really did fire on all cylinders this year with more trailers and gameplay footage, hope you enjoy:

February 2016 –

This wasn’t the only game on everyone’s mind with the soon to be released star wars film; Battlefront was in the air… then on screen:

The latter stages of EA’s press conference was their display of mobile applications syncing and sometimes enhancing their entertainment features with partner apps like the FIFA Ultimate Team 2015. This is a concept that will be ambitiously put to use with their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic title, called Star Wars: Galaxy of heroes.

Electronic Arts are really making sure to keep up both on both console’s and on their own success as last year Titanfall was the talk of E3

more to follow as always

Follow The Wind | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 14

Welcome to another episode of Ori and The Blind Forest. In the last episode we had arrived at Kuro’s nest. As always you can watch this episode at the bottom of this post.

kuro children

We travel further into the nest and find an egg. A cutscene starts to play. We see Kuro with her children. This seems to be a flash back. Kuro leaves the nest to go find some more food leaving the children alone. The big tree seems to start spewing out light energy. The light spreads throughout the forest, reaching Kuro’s nest. Kuro’s children start to be engulfed by the light. Kuro hears the cries of her children and hurries back. Unfortunately she is too late and they have died. This is why Kuro hates Ori’s light.

flee kuro

Back to the game now and Kuro immediately appears where we are. She is obviously not happy with our presence so Ori jumps off the cliff down to the ground. We are back now near the outside of the ruins. The gameplay makes a drastic change. We must now escape this area while hiding from Kuro’s gaze. If we stay in her line of sight too long that will be the end of us.

going up

We barely escape from Kuro. Now the whole map is filled with wind. We must now travel to Sorrow Pass. We take Ori back to where the raging river is. This place now has an air stream. This allows us to travel up to Sorrow Pass.

sorrow pass

The place is pretty much a minefield of spiky walls, stray projectiles and crazy winds. There are shards located around. We have to collect them for a door we have yet to see. We unlock more areas which in turn tell us more about the state of the world around us.

large rock

We collect enough shards and unlock a door to the next area. There are some large rocks that we have to use to block some of the energy beams that are closing our way. We get ourselves a bolder and this is where we end this episode.
