Naru Searches | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 17

Welcome to another episode of Ori and The Blind Forest. We have arrived in the hot fiery ruins. As always you can watch this playthrough at the bottom of this post.

1 2 3

This is probably the hardest part of the game. We have to use all of the skills we have gained. The goal is to reduce all the magma at the bottom of the volcano, so that we can access the lower levels. There are different sections to free, all with their own challenges.  Naru also seems to be searching for us. She is so determined that she is risking the life that she just got back.

Mountain Top | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 15

Welcome to another episode of Ori and the Blind Forest. In this episode we play around with some large boulders to block some death rays. We eventually get ourselves to the top of the mountain. As usual the game looks absolutely fantastic. As always you can watch this playthrough at the bottom of this post. Enjoy

Follow The Wind | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 14

Welcome to another episode of Ori and The Blind Forest. In the last episode we had arrived at Kuro’s nest. As always you can watch this episode at the bottom of this post.

kuro children

We travel further into the nest and find an egg. A cutscene starts to play. We see Kuro with her children. This seems to be a flash back. Kuro leaves the nest to go find some more food leaving the children alone. The big tree seems to start spewing out light energy. The light spreads throughout the forest, reaching Kuro’s nest. Kuro’s children start to be engulfed by the light. Kuro hears the cries of her children and hurries back. Unfortunately she is too late and they have died. This is why Kuro hates Ori’s light.

flee kuro

Back to the game now and Kuro immediately appears where we are. She is obviously not happy with our presence so Ori jumps off the cliff down to the ground. We are back now near the outside of the ruins. The gameplay makes a drastic change. We must now escape this area while hiding from Kuro’s gaze. If we stay in her line of sight too long that will be the end of us.

going up

We barely escape from Kuro. Now the whole map is filled with wind. We must now travel to Sorrow Pass. We take Ori back to where the raging river is. This place now has an air stream. This allows us to travel up to Sorrow Pass.

sorrow pass

The place is pretty much a minefield of spiky walls, stray projectiles and crazy winds. There are shards located around. We have to collect them for a door we have yet to see. We unlock more areas which in turn tell us more about the state of the world around us.

large rock

We collect enough shards and unlock a door to the next area. There are some large rocks that we have to use to block some of the energy beams that are closing our way. We get ourselves a bolder and this is where we end this episode.

Are We Killers?| Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 13

Welcome to another episode of Ori and The Blind Forest. In the last episode we found our way into the ruins. So this episode we explore and find out what we are here for. As always the video is at the bottom of the playthrough.

orb bounce

The ruins might look beautiful but they are also dangerous. The platforms are heated and we cannot walk or touch them. We bump into a red orb which was used by the Gumon. This orb allows us to walk on those surfaces we could not but, we have to be holding the orb.

orb placement

It also locks Ori to the ground. What might seem like upside down to the player is actually normal using this orb. After dodging some death rays we finally make it to where we are to place the orb.

Gumo

This whole time our friend Gumo had been following us and is now inside the ruins with us. Sein wonders if Gumo would forgive us if he know that we caused for his species to die off. This is where the story is starting to not seem so straight forward.

Gumo Steal

We keep going and we find where we need to activate the element of the winds. As we activated them, Gumo  took the orb we had placed earlier. We aren’t too sure why at this point. We must now escape the ruins.

seal

Just like the Ginso tree we have to escape this place in one go.The whole place is coming down and quite frankly it looks astounding. Environmental hazards are the main killer here. After sometime we manage to escape but…..

kuro nest

We find ourselves at Kuro’s nest. What awaits our young savior. You will have to wait till next time as this is where the episode ends.

Mushroom Kingdom | Ori and The Blind Forest 12

Welcome to another episode of Ori and The Blind Forest. As always you can watch this episode at the bottom of this post.

mushroom

Last episode we got ourselves a new grabbing power which now lets us grab on to walls. We use this power to grab onto some of the organic looking platforms making our way to the lantern.

changing forest

The current area is all about timing the jumps correctly. Every time you jump the platforms either disappear or appear. We are collecting shards that we can use later on. The forest keeps changing to give us a new path.

jumping things

After fighting off some jumpy worms we manage to get a door open to where the lantern is. Luckily the game helped us get close to where we have to place the lantern.

flame

We place the lantern and the mist that was in the forest cleared. We also received the Seal to the ruins. We leave the forest and head south to colder weather.

ruins

We arrive at the Forlon ruins which are now the resting place of the Gumo. It is a sad site to behold and the game does so well at setting the somber mood. This is where the episode ends.

Ori and The Spooky Forest : Part 11

Welcome everything to another playthrough of Ori and the blind forest. In this episode we make our way through the creepiest forest you have ever seen. It’s a short one. As always you can watch this episode at the bottom of the post. Enjoy

lantern

Last time we entered this crazy forest that seems to be alive and moving. We find a shrouded lantern which we need to bring the light to. This will clear this fog from the forest. The woods certainly has many ways to kill Ori.

changing forest

The use of our skills is getting more and more complicated. The game demands more precision. Luckily the game has one of the tightest controls in a game we have ever played. After going through a fun projectile section The forest ends up forcibly changing itself. All of the environments change and new pathways prop up.

ability

We set our eyes on a torch which we need to carry to the shrouded lantern. We have to make our way to it but first we get a new wall climb ability. This is where this episode ends.

Thank you so much reading and for all of your support.

We Aren’t Afraid Of You Kuro | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 10

Welcome everyone to our next episode of the Ori and The Blind Forest playthrough. As always you can watch this episode here.

tree

As we run through the beautiful environments that we first saw at the beginning of the game. Instead of feeling frustration for backtracking it is actually nice to see these environments again. A lot of the enemies that we faced before are now considerably weaker than before. This just helps to show the character progression. We also drop by to say hello to the great tree.

bird

We travel west this time to the door we couldn’t open the last time. We are immediately faced with a new enemy. The new enemy seems like a smaller version of the great owl Kuro. Their sweeping attacks are quite difficult to deal with. There are many little areas you can explore to get extra life for example.

kuro

Surfing the air is still as awesome as we thought it would be. We are slowly heading towards the Misty Woods. Unfortunately for us we have a great obstacle in our way. Ignoring the warning we are given by our little spirit partner quickly results in our death. Kuro won’t let take a single step towards the Misty Woods. We turn back to find another way to get to the Misty Woods.

bird damage

We eventually find another path to the Misty Woods which would hopefully get past Kuro. We have to drop some large boulders on her head in an attempt to get her to leave. It felt great watching Kuro flee after we unleashed the boulders on her.

glide

This opened up the path ahead for us. We get a feather that fell from the beast and now we can glide through the air like a boss. This is where this episode of Ori and The Blind Forest ends.

Back To Where We Started | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 9

Welcome to another playthrough post of this great game. As always you can watch and not read the playthrough here.

As we have progressed through the game we have noticed that the game is doing a lot less hand holding. Just this playthrough part took 48 minutes to do just because we had to figure out what what we had to do.

130

This part of the game for our little character to advance any further we had to manipulate the water levels. This allowed us to then stomp some of the weaker platforms.

245

We encountered some of the older enemies as we made our way to the next way point. If you guys have ever played the newer rayman games you know that those games have a lot of hidden areas with little goodies.

650

We ran through some areas and we encountered some hidden traps in the form of moving walls. This game is very unforgiving and if you don’t save you will surely get frustrated at the game and yourself.

1000

We are back to the dark woods heading for the large tree which talked to us many playthroughs ago. This is where this part ends.

Thank you for reading the post and for all of your support.

The Waters Have Cleared | Ori and The Blind Forest

After what seemed like a heated battle between the great floods in the previous video which you can check out here. We are now frolicking in our results. You can check out the new playthrough here.

waters

We were saved by a good friend of ours and we are told we need to go free the next elemental spirit. Straight away we found out that we can finally swim in the waters. The water has changed from its usual red color to a clear light blue. The waters might look appetizing but there are dangerous fish that attack you in there.

water again

At this point we aren’t too sure what we have to do exactly but decide to go for a swim. This under water world is as beautiful as the world above it. Little bubbles float around the lush greenery.

die

This section of the game demanded a balance of curiosity and managing your breath as you swim around dodging fish and attempting to not get crushed by moving platforms. We have said this before in previous episodes but if you haven’t heard the soundtrack for this game please do check it out.

skill

There is a real sense of skill progression as some of the enemies that used to take quite a few hits to kill now only take a few. Speaking of skills we gain ourselves a new super stomp which will help us destroy weak platforms.

proper kill

An enemy who we have been unable to defeat from the very beginning of the game is now small fry compared to our super stomp. The stomp effectively breaks the raging rhino/ armadillo armor which allows us to use our normal attack to defeat him. We were then able to return to a area we couldn’t access because of this enemy. This is where this episode ends.

Thank you very much for reading this post and for all the support you have given us. We hope to see you in our next blog post.

The Great Flood | Ori and The Blind Forest : Part 7

Welcome to another episode of probably the most beautiful game you have ever seen. Last time we arrived to what seemed like a heart of a spirit that has been ravaged by darkness. We had freed one side of the heart but had to clear the other side. As always you can watch our playthrough here.

projectile

This section of the game is all about using projectiles to thrust yourself forward and up. We are tasked with using the teleporters to direct the projectiles that are thrown by one of the creatures, to go destroy a wall that blocks us. After a few attempts of juggling the projectile we finally manage to break the wall. The passage way to the other half of the heart is open and we free it.

water

Thinking that this was enough and that it would be easy to leave this area we went and activated the heart (so to say). What followed was a chase section of us trying to escape the most beautiful water you have ever seen. The picture above does no justice. In motion this game is truly beautiful and we recommend you at-least watch someone playing the game.

The chase involved using double jumps, wall climbs and projectiles to get as far away from the water as possible. It did take quite a bit of time as one mistake would get Ori killed. After what seemed like 10 years we finally managed to get out of the water’s death path and surface from this underground area.

kuro

Our rest is disturbed by the big bad who instantly decides she wants to kill us. We get knocked off a cliff and start plummeting to the ground. Kuro (big bad) even flew after us to make sure we would die. To our luck a previous foe turned friend aids us to make sure we didn’t meet our end. This is where the episode ends.

Thank you very much for reading and supporting us.
